Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is the latest game in the Zelda series, which is set to be released on September 26 for the Nintendo Switch. The announcement trailer for this game was released on June 18. Here we see a lot of things that are different compared to previous games. First of all, the most noticeable thing is that we don’t play as Link like in the other games, but as Princess Zelda.
Mysterious rifts have appeared all over the world, capturing many people, including Link. Now you take on Zelda’s role and try to find Link, embarking on a journey to Hyrule. Additionally, the game will be in a top-down view, which sets it apart from its predecessor and brings it closer to the classic games.
However, Zelda will not fight with a sword like Link, but receives the mysterious magic wand from the fairy Tri, called the Trirod. This wand has the power to create imitations, called Echoes, of things it has seen, whether objects or monsters, which then fight for you. This results in completely different gameplay compared to all other games. With the help of this wand, you can build stairs to reach otherwise inaccessible places.
Many fans immediately noticed in the trailer that parts of the map come from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/ The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Below you can see a picture where this is very obvious.
However, the map will not consist solely of the ALTTP/ALBW map. Because in the trailer we have already seen some things that were not on the classic map. For example: the rainforest, the volcano, the Gerudo city, and the snow-covered mountain. Therefore, it is conceivable that in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the Zelda ALTTP map has been integrated into a larger part of Hyrule. Thus, there will definitely be a lot to discover, especially through the Echo feature, as you can now reach places that were previously unreachable.
The release of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is still some time away, even though it is only 3 months. In the meantime, you can play other Zelda games.
