WoW Classic’s Season of Discovery Phase 4 Now Live – Save on Game Time

With an official announcement on 9th July 2024, from the Blizzard team, WoW fans can finally get their hands on Phase 4 of Season of Discovery (SoD). The seasonal event Blizzard has designed to accompany 2024 with a curated experience suitable for everyone in WoW Classic.

WoW Classic – Season of Discovery Phase 4 Arrives

In early June we talked about version 1.15.3 seen in the internal testing servers for SoD Phase 4, and the team has finally decided to release the long-awaited Phase for WoW Classic. With the official launch on 11 July 2024, and more content to follow, Phase 4 brings the following main features:

• Level Cap raised to level 60
• Epic Mount: With 100% increased speed
• Adjustments for Phase 4: Raid, World Boss, and new Loot – including 20-player Molten Core with Tier 1 Loot and 40-player Onyxia’s Lair
• Level 60 Dungeons and a New Dungeon, new Dungeon currency with Tarnished Undermine Real
• Events: Blackrock Eruption and changes to Blood Moon and Nightmare Incursion
• New to unlock: Classes, Runes, and Profession Recipes
• PvP: the new Alterac Valley Battleground and Class Sets available at Rank 10

Note that the bosses Azuregos and Doom Lord Kazzak will appear as Single-Boss Raids starting from 18 July, and from 25 July we will have access to Molten Core and Onyxia’s Lair. As for the new currency Tarnished Undermine Real, it will be dropped by most dungeon bosses above level 55, and can be spent at the Booty Bay vendor.

The biggest new features of WoW Classic SoD Phase 4

While some changes in Season of Discovery Phase 4 are already known, such as the level cap, raids, and updated loot, the new Phase also brings new changes that will certainly alter the experience. A major new feature is that Raids, except for Molten Core, have been updated to 2 per week. We also have the addition of a new Dungeon in Demon Fall Canyon, along with Blackrock Depths, Blackrock Spire, Dire Maul (North, East, and West), Scholomance, and Stratholme introduced with this Phase.

Moreover, a major change comes to the Rune system, the most interesting feature introduced with Season of Discovery. With community feedback, the Blizzard team has decided to introduce a new class of Runes, the Utility. Utility Runes can be assigned to any class, allowing further experimentation with builds. There are also balance adjustments to the Runes already introduced. Blackrock Eruption is the new PvP event, available for one hour every two hours starting at midnight server time. With Daily Quests for the Thorium Brotherhood. There are also new additions to the Blood Moon event and especially the Nightmare Incursions, now categorized as Daily Quests, thus only once per day. A content-rich Phase 4, leading the final component of the Season towards Autumn. Preparing us for the upcoming WoW Classic announcements for the end of 2024, and what Blizzard has in store for 2025.
