Ubisoft Gears Up For Far Cry 7 Release And The Future of The Franchise

The first Far Cry game made its debut 20 years ago and although it took some time for it to be a household name, it is there now. Far Cry is one of Ubisoft’s most famous franchises together with Assassin’s Creed, Prince of Persia, The Crew, and Watch Dogs.

Ubisoft is on its way to release the now-delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but many are still eyeing news on the launch of Far Cry 7, especially that installments for this franchise release roughly every 3.5 years after the last one. And so it’s up for 2025.

While it’s basically news blackout for Far Cry 7, a recent “report” may have just turned things around.

Far Cry 7 Release Date

Far Cry 7 release date nor even a reveal has not been announced but there are strong indications and even a job posting suggesting that it is in the works.

A job listing on Ubisoft’s official page is currently looking for a 3D Programmer Team Lead that will be responsible for the next generation of the Far Cry branded games. It did not specifically state for Far Cry 7 but why would they. Granted that it could be a remaster but a mainline installment seems more fitting.

There have been plenty of rumors on what the future looks like for Far Cry but there were two loud rumors. One is the Far Cry 7 release, and the other, a multiplayer game. Regardless, many predict it will be released (or unveiled at least) sometime in 2025.

Will Far Cry 7 be on Playstation Plus?

Playstation Plus even has a hand in the growing rumor of Far Cry 7. Some even suggest it could be a day-one launch for PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers. This particular rumor was because of Far Cry 5 making its way back to PS Plus.

Far Cry 5, the best selling Far Cry game and one of the best selling in Ubisoft of all time, was re-released on PS Plus Extra this month. Not only is this a rare incident, but also, the game was barely a year out of the service. It previously made its exit from Games Catalog October 2023. This move has made gamers suspicious of an impending Far Cry 7 reveal.
