The Aspyr team officially announces the arrival of Tomb Raider IV-V-VI Remastered. The second classic trilogy of Lara Croft’s adventures, known as the Darkness Trilogy.

The news officially comes from Aspyr, releasing the trailer to announce the arrival of Tomb Raider IV-V-VI Remastered, a remaster of the Darkness Trilogy launching on February 14, 2025, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. At an affordable price of €29.99.

The Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is revealed with a trailer, showcasing the daring treasure hunter Lara Croft, once again traveling the world through the three chapters of the Darkness Trilogy:

  • Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (IV)
  • Tomb Raider: Chronicles (V)
  • Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (VI)

Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered: Features of the Darkness Trilogy

The second trilogy of the classic Tomb Raider series, revisiting Lara’s past in chapters IV and V. These games feature more cutscenes and FMV, in line with early 2000s games, though this trilogy also marked a decline for some.

Aspyr will not only bring graphical improvements but also numerous fixes and enhancements to the overall experience. Especially addressing the high number of bugs in Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. This remaster will be more than a surface-level update, with deeper improvements to the game. Main features include:

  • Resolutions up to 4K depending on the platform.
  • Frame rates of 60fps up to 120fps in Modern Mode.
  • Toggle between Modern and Classic graphics on the fly.
  • Modern controls alongside Classic Tank Control.
  • Cleaner and more detailed presentation, with various UI improvements.
  • Trophies, Achievements, Photo Mode, and localization in 11 languages with 7 voice-overs.

Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics – Remastered Coming for the 30th Anniversary?

The duo of Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics is offering much more than just a remaster of Tomb Raider’s IV-VI Trilogy. The team is also focused on optimization and bug fixes, reinforcing the success of the series, which has recently surpassed 100 million copies sold worldwide.

With the confirmation of this second trilogy’s remaster for 2025, many expect a similar treatment for the third trilogy, which includes Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld— the last games before the 2013 reboot. This could potentially happen in 2026, marking Tomb Raider’s 30th anniversary. A new Tomb Raider game, in development since 2022 with Amazon Games, might also be announced soon.
