The Sims 1 and Sims 2 are to rerelease today, Jan 31st, for Windows 10/11. Here’s where you can buy it, what time it drops, and the latest on the price.

The Sims Rerelease

For the past week, EA has been dropping multiple teases about a potential rerelease of The Sims and The Sims 2, generating a wave of excitement among long-term fans. Clues, cryptic posts, and even a few leaks kept the community buzzing. Just a couple of days ago, a leaked date of January 31 suggested something big was coming.

Now that we’ve reached the anticipated date, EA is finally ready to make its move, confirming what many fans have been hoping for: the long-awaited return of these classic games.

What Platforms Will It Be Released On?

Yesterday, the official Sims website briefly published a new page showcasing both The Sims and The Sims 2, complete with a “Buy” button. But at the time, clicking the button only led to a 404 error page, suggesting that this page was prematurely published.

As of today, the page has been updated with a new message that redirects users to a promotional Sims Y2K website, further cementing the nostalgic throwback EA is aiming for with this rerelease.

The Sims 25th Anniversary Bundle

In terms of platform availability, it has been confirmed that the rerelease will launch first on PC via the EA App at 8APM PT / 5PM CET / 4PM BT, followed shortly after by a release on Steam. As for Mac users, there has been no confirmation yet, and the same goes for potential console versions. It remains to be seen whether EA will expand the rerelease to other platforms in the future.

How Much Will It Cost?

As of now, EA has not officially announced the price for this rerelease. However, considering what is expected to be included, it likely won’t be cheap. According to a report from Kotaku, an insider has confirmed that the rerelease will come bundled with “numerous packs.” While the wording doesn’t explicitly confirm that all expansion and stuff packs will be included, it does suggest a substantial offering.

For context, The Sims 1 originally had a total of seven expansion packs, while The Sims 2 featured nine Stuff Packs and eight Expansion Packs. If EA includes a significant number of these additional content packs, the pricing could reflect a premium bundle rather than a budget re-release. There’s also chatter about the surprise 25th Anniversary Bundle, which could be all of these in one pack.

With all this anticipation building up, fans are eagerly awaiting the full details from EA. One thing is for sure, experiencing the magic of the early Sims games will mark today as a significant moment in the history of The Sims franchise.
