The Port Royale 4 Beta Has Arrived!
Gaming Minds recently released Port Royale 4 Beta for PC. Players who pre-purchase the game will be granted access to the Beta which features the entire tutorial, plus the full Spanish campaign where they will embark on voyages and engage in turn-based naval battles. Port Royale 4 Beta testers can also expect four playable characters in the Beta.
For those who don’t already know, Port Royale 4 is a strategy simulation game that was published by Kalypso Media and developed by Gaming Minds. In the game, you assume the role of a governor of an island-based colony.
When the full game releases, it will come bearing the campaign for England, France, and The Netherlands. Each colonial powerhouse comes with unique benefits that influence the strategies you employ whilst battling for supremacy over the Caribbean. Players will also be able to establish and manage trade with 60 Caribbean cities and in-turn grow their influence in the region. There will also be 18 historically accurate ship types from the 16th and 17th century which you can pilot in your quest for domination.
Additionally, players will be able to acquire licenses, building permits if they wish to erect new structures that add a large degree of depth to the experience. All this and more will become available to you as your reputation increases within your nation.
For the first time in the Port Royale series, sea battles will be turn-based, with up to 8 different ships participating in each battle. This addition will fundamentally change the way the combat works in comparison to previous installments in the Port Royal series. It will be interesting to see the sorts of adjustments and strategies employed.
Currently, there is no confirmation of if or when the Port Royale 4 Beta will conclude. However, it is available for all PC players. The full Port Royal 4 game will be released on September 25, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
