With the conclusion of Gamescom 2024, which saw an increase in participants, Geoff Keighley reminds us of The Game Awards 2024. Announcing the release date for what will certainly be one of the most heated nominations due to the numerous successful games of 2024.
With 335,000 live participants and over 40 million viewers at home, Gamescom 2024 definitely made a strong impact at the start of the second half of 2024. And right after the ONL date, the renowned Geoff Keighley announces the official date for The Game Awards 2024. Scheduled for 12th December, it will be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. This marks the tenth anniversary of the event created by the very same Geoff Keighley, with tickets available for booking from 1st November and streaming of the event available on multiple platforms.
This year, 2024, has certainly been one of the most interesting in gaming history, with an explosive start that still rages on. We’ve seen Helldivers 2 and Palworld set impressive records, and the recently released Black Myth: Wukong surpassing Palworld’s famous 2 million concurrent players. Upcoming highly anticipated titles include Visions of Mana, Silent Hill 2 Remake, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, YS X: Nordics, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and many more. Not to mention the numerous indie and AA studio games that have been delivering masterpieces in recent years. Definitely an event to look forward to.
But that’s not all, because The Game Awards are not just about awarding the most critically acclaimed games of the year but also a fantastic opportunity for the announcement of many new games coming in the final days of 2024 and especially in 2025. With the absence of Nintendo and PlayStation at Gamescom 2024, many expect further announcements from these two giants of the gaming industry at The Game Awards, as well as, of course, at the upcoming Nintendo Direct and State of Play. For a 2025 that seems to continue what was started this year, with big titles like Kingdom Come Deliverance II, Civilization VII, Borderlands 4, Death Stranding 2, Doom: The Dark Ages set to contend for the title of Game of The Year for 2025.
