With an announcement trailer released on 8th June 2024 at the Summer Game Fest, The First Descendant, the new Free to Play game by Nexon, certainly impressed many thanks to a well-crafted trailer. Featuring a new third-person shooter with deep RPG mechanics and PvE elements, soon to be released.


The First Descendant – The Trailer for Nexon’s New F2P

The First Descendant showcases a brand new trailer that announces the release date and reveals what the game is about. The trailer is accompanied by “Outro” from the musical group M83, which was popularized in various sci-fi trailers. The cinematic-style trailer shows us the world of Ingris initially inhabited by humans, but the invasion of an alien race known as the Vulgus has brought destruction to the planet, subjugating humans. The humans, gathered at Albion, the last human stronghold, are joined by the Vulgus Magisters who are set on stopping further destruction of the planet. By awakening the Arche present in the human gene, giving these the powers to counter the Vulgus, and even the ferocious Colossus, thus becoming the First Descendants.

A trailer that has garnered well over 5 million views, showing a certain interest from players in Nexon’s offering. The trailer shows not only the challenges and enemies we will encounter but also gives space to the various characters we can play in the new Free to Play game.


When will The First Descendant be released and what the game has in store for us

Characters that just in the last few days, the Nexon team has showcased, including Ajax, Bunny, and especially Valby (the girl who appears on the beach), and discussed in a Dev Talk about the game’s End Game content. The first step according to the dev is to collect all the Descendants, which are confirmed to be available as rewards within the game by collecting materials to obtain them permanently. Being a looter shooter, the game will offer higher, even customizable, difficulties in exchange for more substantial and rare rewards, and the characters’ weapons and abilities will also play an important role.

A game with strong potential and is not expected to have an overly invasive F2P formula like other Nexon titles. The game will also run on Unreal Engine 5, with confirmation from PlayStation of the presence of UE5’s Virtual Shadow Map for shadows, as well as implementation of AMD Frame Generation and Ray Tracing options. The First Descendant will be released on 2nd July 2024, on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox X/S, and PC (Steam).
