Take-Two Interactive Reveal Impressive Sales Figures
Take-Two Interactive, publisher and parent company of Rockstar Games and 2K Games, have released their latest sales figures, and to no surprise, GTA V continues to smash records.

GRAND THEFT AUTO
The Grand Theft Auto franchise needs no introduction. GTA V itself is now the most financially successful entertainment product in history and continues to sell, almost eight years after its initial release.
The GTA series has sold over 350 million copies since the first released way back in 1997, and GTA V is responsible for more than 150 million of those sales, and it earned almost $1 billion in 2020 alone.
The game is now the second best-selling video game of all time, only behind Minecraft on the charts and ahead of Tetris, Wii Sports, and PUBG.
One reason for GTA V’s incredible success has been the phenomenal ability of GTA Online to retain players and bring in new ones.
GTA Online saw its best player participation rate to date in 2020, and its revenue was up year-over-year by 28%.
With rumors continuing to build on GTA 6, you can expect more success with GTA V as it launches for next-generation consoles, the PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and Series S on November 11, 2021.
GTA Online also launches as a standalone on November 11, 2021.
RED DEAD REDEMPTION
Red Dead Redemption is one of the best critically-acclaimed game franchises to release in the last two decades.
Red Dead Redemption does not have the sales figures of Grand Theft Auto, but the series has still sold a very impressive 60 million copies.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the second best-selling video game in the US in the last three years based on dollar sales, where GTA V was the best-selling in the last decade.
Since its release, RDR2 has sold more than 38 million units, and Red Dead Online has since launched as a standalone version in December 2020.
2K GAMES
Take-Two’s 2K Games has also been a money generator in the last few years, with games such as Borderlands 3, XCOM 2, BioShock, and Sid Meier’s Civilization VI launching.
The Borderlands series continues to grow, with the franchise now selling more than 71 million copies, and Borderlands 3 is the fastest-selling 2K title with more than 13 million sales.
The narrative-shooter series BioShock has never failed to receive perfect scores from critics, and the games have sold more than 38 million units.
Civilization VI is one of the best-selling strategy games ever on PC, and its franchise has sold over 58 million copies.
FUTURE GAMES
Take-Two Interactive are not slowing down anytime soon and have invested heavily in their development teams as work continues on existing and brand-new franchises.
We may have to wait a little longer for news on GTA VI, but the next couple of years look incredibly positive for Take-Two Interactive and us.
