Tempest Rising Deluxe Edition holders have been enjoying the game already, thanks to the exclusive early access included with their purchase. Standard Edition buyers, on the other hand, were set to join the fight on the official launch date of April 24th. At least, that was the plan.
In an unexpected twist, the game was accidentally made available to all players on Steam starting April 17th, completely derailing the original release schedule.
Tempest Rising Accidentally Launches Early On Steam
After just 24 hours of early access, Tempest Rising has now been made available to both Standard and Deluxe edition holders. The devs announced that the game was unexpectedly made available on Steam to everyone who preordered it, and while this wasn’t the plan at all, they’ve decided to roll with it. Instead of restricting access or pulling the game back, they’ve chosen to keep it available for everyone who purchased the game ahead of its originally planned release date.
For those who preordered the game, the preorder bonus is still in effect. The Commander Pack will be available for anyone who buys the game before the initial planned release date of April 24th. This offer will be valid until 7am PDT / 10am EDT / 3pm BST / 4pm CEST on Thursday, April 24, giving fans a final chance to secure those exclusive bonuses.

While this is fantastic news for gamers who purchased the Standard edition, it presents a bit of a dilemma for Deluxe edition players. After all, the seven-day early access was one of the major perks of buying the higher-priced edition. And now that the game is accessible to everyone a week ahead of schedule, it’s not the kind of exclusive experience they expected.
The devs have acknowledged this and are working hard to make things right. To compensate for this unplanned early release, they’re creating new exclusive in-game content for Deluxe edition players. Further details on this are yet to be announced.
As for the game itself, although the official release date for the game may have moved up to April 17th, Ranked Matchmaking and Leaderboards features will still be rolled out on the original release date of April 24th. So, while the game is now live for all players, there’s still something to look forward to on the 24th.
