Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is getting its final content update in January as Rocksteady Studios announces it will get no more support. Rocksteady is bringing a curtain down on Suicide Squad with Season 4 Episode 8, but online features will remain available.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is officially dead. Rocksteady Studios is ending support for the much-troubled third-person action shooter in January after Season 4 Episode 8. Although Rocksteady is not planning future content, players can continue to play it as online features remain active.
For players, Rocksteady’s decision means no additional updates, bug fixes, or new content after January. However, with the launch of Season 4 Episode 7 on December 10, players can access a new offline mode, which comes into Suicide Squad along with Deathstroke.
Rocksteady’s Decision to End Support
For many, Rocksteady’s decision to no longer support Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League with new content was inevitable since the game’s launch on February 2, 2024. After an eight-month delay and a rough release, where Suicide Squad received mixed reviews, the game never recovered, only peaking at a miserable 13,459 players on Steam, with a current peak of only 1,000.
There will be no more new content for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League after Season 4 Episode 8, which releases in January and brings an end to the Suicide Squad’s battle against Brainiac.
What This Means for Players
For players, the announcement means no future episodic content for Suicide Squad, however online features will remain active. The game will remain purchasable on all platforms and a players can still play with friends in co-op. Rocksteady is adding a new offline mode for those who want to enjoy all previous seasonal and episodic content without an internet connection.
All previously earned and purchased cosmetics will also continue to be available offline. It all ends for Suicide Squad next month, after the end of Season 4, which continues on December 10 with Episode 7 with the introduction of Deathstroke to the game’s roster.
Rocksteady’s Future Plans
After a “weak performing” release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Rocksteady announced cuts to its QA team in September after Warner Bros. revealed it had “fallen short” of expectations. Meanwhile, in an attempt to move away from the live-service space, Rocksteady is working on a new Batman game.
Fans will hope a new Batman game will see Rocksteady return to form after its massively successful Batman: Arkham series. Rocksteady Studios is also working on the Hogwarts Legacy: Director’s Cut, which is coming in 2025.
Conclusion
Rocksteady’s decision to end support for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League brings a close to a dark chapter for the studio. Are you disappointed by this news or looking forward to the next Batman game? Let us know in the comments below.
