As the new year approaches, Valve has revealed the winners of the 2024 Steam Awards, with some surprises and undoubtedly well-deserved winners!

With the start of the new year, we also have the full list of 2024 Steam Awards Winners. Steam’s awards began in 2016 with a playful tone but have gained respect over the years due to an increasing player base and dissatisfaction with more prestigious award shows.

This has become especially true after The Game Awards 2024, where player votes accounted for only 10%, while the jury, often including non-specialized members, held 90% of the vote.

Game of the Year Award, Best Game You Suck At Award, and Outstanding Story-Rich Game Award: Black Myth Wukong

An undeniable standout of this year and, for many, the face of 2024. Despite fierce competition for the coveted GOTY spot, Black Myth Wukong delivered one of the most entertaining titles of the year. Winning three awards, thanks to its fascinating story  based on the famous novel Journey to the West, while also offering a challenging action-packed experience.

VR Game of the Year Award: Metro Awakening

Metro Awakening’s VR experience has stolen the spotlight. Featuring an original story set in Dmitry Glukhovsky’s beloved Metro universe, players are taken back to Moscow’s underground tunnels in 2028, playing as Dr. Serdar. This VR journey delivers the franchise’s signature atmosphere, dangers, and mysteries.

Labor of Love Award: Elden Ring

With the anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, many have returned to Elden Ring, FromSoftware’s latest soulslike adventure and GOTY 2022 winner. Definitely the best excuse to experience the original for the first time or face new enemies in the expansion, Elden Ring continues to captivate many players.

Best Game on Steam Deck Award: God of War Ragnarök

With a category dedicated to Valve’s Steam Deck, Kratos’ latest adventure claims the award. Providing a stunning portable experience at 30fps on medium-low settings at native resolution or 40fps with FSR 3.1. Offering a visually impressive game as well as a smooth gameplay.

Better With Friends Award: Helldivers 2

Outstanding Visual Style Award: SILENT HILL 2

Bloober Team SA’s remake of Silent Hill 2, one of Konami’s most beloved horror series, has won over initial skepticism. This remake faithfully recreates the chilling atmosphere of the original with impressive visuals, while adding extra details.

Most Innovative Gameplay Award: Liar’s Bar

Curve Animation’s indie team delivers a unique 4-player multiplayer experience set in a shady bar. Players engage in a dangerous card game where lies and deceit reign supreme, offering simple yet highly innovative gameplay.

Best Soundtrack Award: Red Dead Redemption

A surprise pick for this category, but one that highlights the first Red Dead Redemption’s exceptional audio design. Many consider it even more refined and memorable than RDR2, with its Spaghetti Western-style music and atmospheric tracks perfectly complementing the story and protagonist John Marston.

Sit Back and Relax Award: Farming Simulator 25

The latest installment of Giants Software’s iconic simulation series immerses players in modern farming life. Packed with new vehicles, options, and additions. Seeing a huge  wave of new players, reaching over 2 million copies sold in just a week. A fantastic game for relaxing solo or in co-op.
