As the fateful release date for Shattered Space, the first expansion for Starfield, approaches, the Bethesda team has released a new video. A video that explores in-depth what awaits us on the planet Va’ruun’kai where the new DLC takes place.

Starfield: Shattered Space – What the DLC has in store for us

With a release date set for 30th September, Bethesda takes us to discover what awaits in the long-awaited expansion for Starfield. The first expansion comes a year after the release of the space-themed open world, which is Bethesda’s first new universe in over 25 years. Shattered Space takes us to Va’ruun’kai, the home planet of House Va’ruun, specifically exploring the planet a few weeks after a catastrophic event related to a Gra-Drive technology experiment. An experiment that profoundly altered the planet, with some areas affected by gravitational distortions and the arrival of entities from another dimension.

Upon our arrival, we will discover how Va’ruun’kai has been impacted by the phenomenon, exploring the mysteries linked to House Va’ruun and its connection to the Great Serpent, one of the most intriguing and mysterious houses from the base game. The promise of Shattered Space is that of a curated experience centered around the planet Va’ruun’kai, handcrafted by the team, also introducing a gameplay shift with more confined space and enemies engaging in close combats, adding more emphasis to gameplay. Not to mention the darker tone of the new DLC, which will offer players a fresh experience.

What Bethesda intends to offer with Shattered Space is not only a meticulously crafted new experience in a rather extensive game area, but also the ability to finally deliver what many hoped for in Starfield. Starfield didn’t have the launch the team had hoped for, particularly due to the experience being too sterile because of procedurally generated content. Shattered Space, on the other hand, offers an expansion in line with Fallout 4’s Far Harbor or something in-between Skyrim’s Dawnguard and Dragonborn expansions.

Offering a new story on the vast planet of Va’ruun’kai, with over 50 locations, new weapons and equipment, as well as formidable new enemies. All of this is accompanied by a main story that will allow us to influence the future of the planet and House Va’ruun, amidst political intrigues and mysteries to solve. This first expansion for Starfield is coming soon on 30th September 2024, with confirmation that a second expansion is already in development. Fans are hoping that these new contents will finally provide the Bethesda touch that Starfield absolutely needed to finally excite the players.
