Worldwide disruption as Sony confirms Playstation Network is down. Issue still persists and is not fully resolved for some users.

Playstation Network Global Outage

Playstation Network faced a worldwide disruption in multiple fronts a few hours ago. Users reported games were crashing and the inability to login their accounts. The first wave of reports started approximately 2AM CET / 8PM PT. It wasn’t a localized disruption as users from different parts of the globe were affected.

Gamers flooded different forums to get to the bottom of this, especially those in the midst of purchasing a digital key. Since then, major gaming news outlets have supported the claim, with Dowdetector also reporting on the issue.

Sony picked up on the report and confirmed it. As per the status during the height of it, all Playstation platforms, Playstation Video, and Playstation Store were affected. Sony stated that their retail arm, Playstation Direct, was spared but to conflicting reports. As shown in the screenshot below, some users experienced otherwise.


Playstation Network Down


As of writing, the issue is not fully resolved. Most users got all features back up and running, and some, not so lucky. However, Playstation assured that it is still working on the issue and will have full resolution soon.
