Almost closing to a month after the global launch, the team at Atlus has decided to release a new trailer for their new Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. The latest chapter of the historic Shin Megami Tensei (SMT) series, which has recently received a definitive version with many new features compared to the original version.
A new trailer released by Atlus on 9 July 2024, to celebrate the global success that the latest updated chapter of the Shin Megami Tensei series has achieved. Showcasing turn-based combat in action, new characters among allies and enemies, and a good dose of monsters. In short, a showcase of the main features of the game, summarizing briefly the background of the game’s story, centering around the protagonist: the Nahobino.
About a month after the release date, which was 14th June 2024, we do not know exactly how much Vengeance has sold.Although we have confirmation from 20 June of an impressive 1.6 million copies sold for the original and the Vengeance version in total, and confirmation of about 500,000 copies sold in just 3 days from the launch of Vengeance. Certainly impressive numbers, showing great interest behind the series, which has become more renowned thanks to the remaster of the third chapter (SMT III Nocturne HD Remaster) and to a certain degree even from the Persona series, originally a spin-off of Shin Megami Tensei.
With the original version released on 11 November 2021, Vengeance brings many new features after over 2 years of exclusivity on Nintendo Switch. First of all, Vengeance offers most of the DLCs sold separately in the original, which, together with the new 40 monsters, expands the Compendium of Demons that can be collected and especially used in battle. In this regard, we will also have rebalancing on the combat side, with a maximum level raised from 99 to 150, with some new sidequests, the ability of demons to call reinforcements to help farm more exp, Innate Skills, and Group Skills, etc.
A significant improvement indeed, but certainly not lacking in completely new content. In fact, we will not only have the possibility to choose a new Route with the new alternative story Canon of Vengeance, but we will also have a new adventure companion in the mysterious Yoko Hiromine with the dedicated story in Vengeance. But also the lineup of our enemies will become more fierce with the arrival of the quartet of the Qadištu, led by Lilith. In short, a turn-based JRPG not to be missed, especially for fans of the series but also for those looking for a good game with an interesting story and plenty of replayability.
