Rust Sells Over 12 Million Copies Since Launch

Facepunch Studios shared this new milestone in a post on Steam, sharing their plans for Rust this 2022 and more.

Rust celebrated its 8th birthday in December 2021, and Facepunch shared some of the game’s stats to celebrate it, as well as their plans for 2022.

For starters, the game has sold over 12.4 million copies since it launched — quite a huge milestone for a survival game. The number of copies all of its DLCs combines has sold has reached over 1.1 million, and it also had an all-time peak player count of 267,211.

On Twitch, Rust boasts of 1.3 billion total views, and was broadcasted for a total of 4.2 million hours.

For 2022, Facepunch says they will be offering more of the monthly updates for the game every first Thursday of the month “along with occasional hotfixes and holiday events.”

This year, players can also expect new content such as weapons, deployables, animals, vehicles, and a lot more. A sneak peek at the new Arctic monument will be released soon, while quality of life changes will drop in February.

“We’re excited to see what we can accomplish in 2022 and we thank each and every one of our players for continuing to enjoy our work,” the developer says.
