RESIDENT EVIL 7 TECH COMPARISON ON PS5 & XBOX SERIES X
Capcom celebrated Resident Evil turning 25 by patching Resident Evil 7 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.
Thanks to Digital Foundry, we have a tech comparison video showing what RE7 looks like on the Sony and Microsoft consoles.
Now available on PS5 and Xbox Series X, Resident Evil 7 looks beautiful in 4K, as the video above shows.
Resident Evil 7 can hold a steady 60 FPS in 4K with ray tracing turned on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but frame rates fluctuate a little on the Xbox Series S but shouldn’t drop below 45 FPS.
Although there is a 120 FPS mode, the steady frame rate the game holds with ray tracing means that you should always run the game at 4K.
The next-gen patch for RE7 also means the game benefits from faster load times, 3D audio, and DualSense support on the PS5.
One potential game changer is that those with variable refresh rate (VRR) monitors can play the game with the best settings and expect a smooth experience.
VRR adjusts your monitor’s refresh rate to match the frame rate in the game, so you don’t see artefacts or dropped frames.
