Dragon Ball Sparking Zero The Dramatic Showdown


Bandai is set to take Dragon Ball to new heights as it announced the first Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Global Tournament.

The announcement came barely a month from the game’s release so the excitement hasn’t even had a chance to settle. And so now with an official comp in the horizon, fans are over the moon, to say the least.

There are three events in this competition: two qualifiers and the grand finals. The qualifier events consist of online tournaments in 9 countries, and an on-site one at Battle Hour in Los Angeles on January 18. Then the Grand Finals will also be at Battle Hour in LA the next day, January 19, 2025.


Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Tournament


For the online qualifiers, 9 champions will emerge and will play a preset character for the Grand Finals. These online tournaments are held on different dates this month until early next month. First up is in Mexico on November 16 and last will be in the East Coast USA on December 8. Registration for all the online events are now open. Below are the characters assigned per country champion.


Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Online Qualifier


For those with reservations already, the producer of the game, Jun Furutani, explained that to ensure a fair match-up, the characters will be balanced by different items in the game.

As for the Battle Hour qualifiers, 7 tournaments will be done on-site to get an additional 7 champions for the Grand Finals. And like the online qualifiers, this too will have a corresponding character per champion. So in total, 16 unique characters will be represented in the Grand Finals.

While the main character is set per champion, players can add one more character from a pool of 40, each with an in-game level of less than 4 DP. There is also freedom in which form you want your main character to be during the finals. You can check the pool, the rules, and the allowable forms per character here.
