On July 26th, this year’s Olympics 2024 kicked off in Paris, France. This international event brings athletes from all over the world to compete in 32 different sports, striving for Olympic gold. In many Olympic years, official video games have been released, and this year is no different. This year, Olympics Go! Paris 2024 was released. This game is available for free on PC via Epic Games, iOS, and Android. It is a mix of several Olympic sports and a city-building game. This game has no multiplayer or co-op mode, so you can only play it alone. The game was developed by GlobalStep and Nvizzio Creations and published by nWay, Inc.
You can start by creating your own character and then compete in various disciplines. In total, there are 12 different disciplines in Olympics Go! Paris 2024. The sports are: archery, artistic gymnastics, athletics – 100m, basketball, breaking, cycling, fencing, golf, rowing, shooting – skeet, skateboard park, and swimming – 100m freestyle. One of the new disciplines this year is breaking, a type of dance. There are various short mini-games for all these 12 sports.
By winning, you earn points, coins, and climb the leaderboard. With the coins, you can build new buildings, like shops, around the Olympic grounds. This increases your visitor numbers and maximizes your success. Victories unlock new upgrades and buildings.
But today, we don’t just want to talk about the latest game for Olympics 2024, but also about other games that fit the theme. Not all games, unlike the latest one, will be free. However, the quality of the game will improve accordingly. Let’s start with the other official Olympic games, namely the game from 2020: Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
In 2020, there was also an official game for the Olympics, namely: Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. This game was developed by the well-known studio SEGA, which has released and developed many famous games, like the Sonic games. Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is a paid game, which still costs 40€ on Steam today. Later we will show you a way to save on your purchase. However, you can play the game not only in single-player mode but also in online co-op or split-screen on one device. The game is playable on PC via Steam, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
In total, Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 offers 18 different arcade-style sports disciplines. These include boxing, 100-meter sprint, baseball, table tennis, and many more. You can create your own avatar. The game offers various skins, allowing you to look like an astronaut or even Sonic himself.
The best feature is that you can play Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 with up to 8 people in online multiplayer. You can either play with friends to see who is the best athlete or with players from all over the world. This allows you to climb the leaderboard and become the best of the best.
There were also official games in 2016 and 2012. In 2016, when the Olympics were held in Rio, there was a mobile game, and in 2012 in London, there was a PC game. Unfortunately, the service for both these games has been discontinued, making them playable only through alternative means.
Let’s go back to the year 2020, when the Olympics were held in Tokyo, Japan. A country known for its video games did not miss the opportunity to develop some games for the occasion. Mario & Sonic is the collaboration between Sega and Nintendo. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 was also developed by Sega and released for the Nintendo Switch.
In this game, you can choose from 32 different playable characters from the Sonic and Mario series and compete in disciplines from 2020 and 1964. There are a total of 35 different disciplines when combining both years. In the games, you also have special abilities, making the game even more interesting, especially the team games.
