PC Gaming: This Week in Trailers (May — Week 1)
This week saw new announcements, a couple of really weird trailers, and a surprise launch. In other words, the industry has been buzzing with trailers all week long. Here are some of the best ones we got to see this week:
Euro Truck Simulator 2 — Road to the Black Sea Announcement
In case you didn’t know, Euro Truck Simulator 2 is such a big hit that even if it’s a niche game it still gets over 19,000 players every day on Steam. That’s why it’s not surprising that even on its 7th year, the game is still getting new DLC. Road to the Black Sea will have players cruising along the coastlines alongside the Black Sea, with various types of industries to deliver to.
Pathologic 2 — Theater of Gorkhon Trailer
Pathologic 2 opened up pre-orders this week. The announcement came in a new trailer that’s beyond bizarre. You’ll want to watch the trailer yourself if you want to make any sense of it. Those who pre-order will also get a 10% discount, while owners of Pathologic Classic HD will get an additional 10% slashed off the price.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint — Official Announce Trailer
After being teased and then leaked, Ubisoft finally officially announced Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The game is a direct sequel to Wildlands and will pit players against rogue Ghosts who have occupied a fictional archipelago that’s home to a tech company specializing in drones.
Titan Quest — Atlantis Release Trailer
To say THQ Nordic loves Titan Quest would probably be an understatement. The publisher has once again released a new full expansion for the 12-year-old ARPG. Atlantis will have players searching for and eventually exploring the lost underwater metropolis. It also comes with support for up to 6-player co-op. Sweet!
RAGE 2 — Official Launch Trailer
Even though RAGE 2 is set to release next week, Bethesda has released the game’s launch trailer already. As expected from a RAGE 2 trailer, it’s all sorts of bonkers. Most of it actually plays backwards. It even rewinds too far to the point of nothingness. Still, it should get you hyped up if you’ve been excited for the shooter.
Monster Hunter World — Iceborne Gameplay Reveal Trailer
Monster Hunter World’s next expansion has been revealed. It’s called Iceborne and promises to feature even more quests that the base game itself. Unfortunately, as has been the trend with World, this expansion will come later than the console versions. The expansion hits PS4 and Xbox One on September 26th, while PC players will have to wait until winter.
Fortnite — Season 9 Cinematic Trailer
Epic Games is cooking up something for Fortnite again. The Season 9 cinematic trailer reveals that the game is about to get a futuristic makeover. Specifically, Tilted Towers and Retail Row, both of which were destroyed during Season 8’s volcano event, will now be replaced by Neo Tilted and Mega Mall.
John Wick Hex — Announcement Trailer
A new John Wick game has been announced called John Wick Hex. It’s a turn-based action game where players will need to think about every move they make. The game will feature an original storyline that’s separate from that of the film series, and an art style the developers describe as “unique graphic noir art design.”
And that’s it for this week in trailers. Make sure to check back here next week for another recap of the week’s happenings depicted in trailers. Cheers!
