Path of Exile 2: Elon Musk Becomes a Laughing Stock in the Gaming Scene
Many of you might have heard about it – Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, Tesla, and SpaceX, demonstrated a few months ago that he is one of the best Diablo 4 players in the world. But in a live stream of Elon Musk playing Path of Exile 2, his skill looked rather terrible. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
Elon Musk’s Embarrassment in the Path of Exile 2 Stream
Elon Musk intended to show off his gaming skills in Path of Exile 2. But attentive players and viewers quickly realized that he was actually quite bad. Elon Musk is a household name – a multibillionaire and owner of some of the largest companies in the world. In the past, he has frequently shown that he is also a passionate gamer.
Just last year, Musk demonstrated that he is the best Diablo 4 player in the world. He cleared the endgame dungeon “The Pit” on the highest difficulty (Level 150) in a record time of 1 minute and 52 seconds. This broke the previous record by 3 full seconds and catapulted him to the top of the scoreboard.
Now, in his stream, Elon showed his Level 95 Hardcore character. On January 7th, he hosted a short livestream where he intended to showcase his skills. You can watch the gameplay from this stream here as a VOD. In the VOD, you can notice some strange things, especially from minute 18. For instance, his stash includes a tab named “Elon’s Map,” while no other tab bears his name. This seems a bit odd.
One might speculate that this tab contains simpler maps to reduce the risk of losing this Hardcore character. Even Elon’s behavior in the menu seemed a bit unusual. To reach such a high level, he must have completed hundreds or even thousands of maps. Yet, it seemed like he wasn’t very familiar with the Atlas, which he needs to use every time.
Even the gameplay we saw from Musk didn’t seem very professional. At minute 27:32, we see that Elon spends 10 seconds not drinking a Mana Potion but still tries to use abilities on the enemy. Only after 10 seconds does he use the potion, allowing him to defeat the enemy faster. Such a mistake isn’t expected from a “pro.” His overall movement in many situations also appeared rather clumsy.
Looting wasn’t easy for Elon either. He left valuable items like Exalted Orbs behind and instead picked up low-level keystones, which he shouldn’t need at his level. Additionally, Musk didn’t use a loot filter at all. Perhaps he just likes having every bit of junk in his inventory and sorting it by hand later.
What Does This Mean?
Many players suspect that Elon shares his account with someone else who plays a lot for him in advance. His equipment is also better than that of many full-time streamers, which would be challenging for someone with such a busy schedule.
However, these are just speculations from many players. Who knows, maybe Elon was just a little nervous that day and didn’t perform his best.
