Is Palworld similar to Pokémon?
In Palworld, you play in a vast open-world, survival game setting. However, you are not alone in this world, but accompanied by ‘Pals’. These creatures bear a striking resemblance to the famous Pokémon. The Pals have various elements, giving them different strengths… much like in Pokémon.
Capturing and adding Pals to your team in Palworld is very similar to Pokémon, as they are caught with a ball, albeit named Pal-Spheres instead of Pokéballs. There are significant similarities, including different levels of these spheres.
Statement from the Pokémon Company
The Pokémon Company Japan’s official website released a post today. They stated that they have not given rights to Pokémon intellectual property or assets of this game to any other company. Moreover, they are planning to take action against Palworld for violating Pokémon’s intellectual property rights.
The official statement does not specifically mention Pocket Pair or Palworld, referring instead to ‘another company’s game released in January 2024’. However, it’s clear that the Pokémon Company is referring to Palworld.
Potential Risk for Palworld?
