With an Early Access release on 22 October 2024, No More Room In Hell 2 is set for a Halloween-themed launch. Featuring a survival and first-person shooter game set in a zombie apocalypse. As the sequel to one of the first big scale mods for Half Life 2 and later became standalone due to its great success.
The Torn Banner team takes the reins for this sequel after acquiring the original Lever Games team. No More Room in Hell 2 (NMRIH2) will be released on Steam and Epic Games Store in Early Access, and it will likely arrive on consoles with the official launch, scheduled for 2025.
No More Room In Hell 2 offers a survival first-person shooter set in a zombie apocalypse. What made the first chapter highly appreciated was its focus on the survival aspect. Offering a game where cooperation is essential to complete various objectives.
With a roguelike system and permadeath, every encounter in NMRIH2 will be full of tension, and we’ll have to strategize our actions. Often avoiding zombies rather than confronting them and trying to evade dangerous situations due to environmental traps. No More Room In Hell 2 arrives a little over 10 years after the standalone release of the original, offering a significant graphical leap. Moving from the Source Engine to the modern Unreal Engine 5, which also allows for better handling of a more open-world map with higher graphical detail.
A major difference from the original is the decision to make it a paid game. This is because the first one was born in 2009 as a passion project and mod for Half Life 2, and later became standalone but remained free. With Torn Banner’s acquisition of the team, No More Room In Hell 2 will see Early Access development and post-launch support.
With the choice of Early Access, the team aims to develop the game using player experience and feedback. The goal is not only to refine the overall gaming experience but also to bring new content such as new areas, weapons, and new types of zombies.
With an open-world map, there will surely be many factors that will radically change the gameplay experience, and player feedback will play an important role. This will allow the team to balance or optimize certain areas depending on the difficulty and general player progression, given the choice of Permadeath.
The Torn Banner team, along with much of the original Lever Games team, intends to capture the experience of the original and bring an improved version with this new chapter. Featuring an open-world map and a VOIP communication system. This will allow us to communicate with other survivors and quickly form a team of up to 8 players in co-op.
With a survival experience where cooperation will be the key to surviving not only zombies but also the dangers and puzzles to solve in order to complete various objectives. The Permadeath system and character abilities will play an important role in the team’s survival.
With the release of No More Room In Hell 2 set for just a few weeks on 22nd October 2024, fans of the genre will get their hands on a co-op-focused zombie survival experience. And with an Early Access launch price around 30€, it’s initially quite affordable.
In short, a Halloween-themed launch offering a first-person survival horror that captures the essence of classic 80s-90s zombie horror films. With a strong element of tension, where cooperation will be vital, and death will certainly be part of the gameplay experience. A game to keep an eye on for genre fans and a good Halloween-themed option to enjoy with friends.
