New World: Why You Should Now Play It Again
New World has just received a new update, which includes quality of life improvements, PvP tweaks, and bug fixes, which is why you should now play it again.

Amazon Game Studios’ February update for New World may be a little late to bring back the number of players it had at launch, but it does bring some much needed fixes.
We got a few of the highlights below for you, so keep reading and find out what changes come to New World’s expeditions, world, and combat.
New World February 2022 Update Patch Notes:
Expeditions:
- Fixed an issue to prevent Taxodius from being looted twice.
- Collision is fixed to prevent players from leaving the playable space in the Depths.
- Players can no longer join an expedition in progress from another expedition entrance.
World:
- Camps are fixed so players can no longer build them on top of one another to reach higher locations.
- Ancient AI scaled back to make it easier for solo players at Syleio Seko in Reekwater.
- Enemy numbers reduced in Sunken Aspect.
- Players can no longer climb a wall to enter Siren Queen arena.
- Fixes to floating assets and poor collision across New World’s map.
General:
- Player-vs-AI physics have been tweaked to reduce character pushback.
- Reduced the pushback on block to 0 for most enemy creatures.
- The Ball spell’s visuals now match its area of damage. (Corrupted Ogre)
- The Soldier can no longer spam Empower when shot from more than 30 meters (Dryad Soldier).
- Elemental Bears now regenerate stamina much slower (Elemental Bears).
- Swamp Dryad Soldier’s downward slam will no longer spawn a damaging area of effect (Swamp Dryad Soldier).
- The Undead Navigator’s self-buff will now properly show up as a status effect (Undead Navigator)
- The Siren will no longer attack players at the edge of the arena (Siren Arena Boss).
- Knockdown animations are now more distinct to separate them from standard reactions (Big Cats).
Expedition AI:
- Blighted Greenskeeper’s headshot hit volume is increased (Blighted Greenskeeper).
- The Mist Attack VFX now plays in sync with damage (Genesis Shaman).
- Attack VFX is now much more visible from Angry Earth Naga (Angry Earth Naga).
Chardis:
- Chardis’ stun phase has been increased by 5 seconds
- The final laser’s phase time is increased to 90 seconds from 75 seconds.
- The lasers during phase 1 and phase 2 have their downtime reduced 60 seconds to 30 seconds.
- Chardis’ damage is increased by 25%
- Chardis’ final laser will now deal 15% of health as damage per second.
- Swipe animations will no longer create safe spots on the walls.
- Chardis will now correctly take bonus damage from Ancient related perks and coatings.
- Chardis’ laser will no longer persist after death.
Mutators:
- Desiccated timer reduced to 45 seconds from 60 seconds.
- Curse damage is now normalized to ensure proper threat to all players.
Combat
Weapon Swapping:
- Weapons can now be swapped during hit-reactions, dodges, traversal, and using consumables.
- Weapon swap will no longer be canceled when staggered.
- Weapon swaps and attacks can now be queued, making them more reliable and easier.
Dodging & Blocking:
- Recovery time for all dodges are reduced.
- Melee and ranged attacks can now be dodge and block canceled.
- Light attacks using melee weapons will have block and dodge inputs prioritized to prevent accidental incoming damage.
Jumping:
- Jumping from lower heights will no longer trigger a fully committed land animation.
Attributes:
- 300 Focus Attribute Bonus: Will now trigger when the player drops to 15 mana or lower.
Equip Load:
- Equip Load descriptions now include stamina consumed when dodging.
- Attack cancels will now work in shallow water.
- Attack animations will no longer play incorrectly when running.
- Players will not get stuck at a camp when encumbered.
- Players can no longer clip through obstacles when using abilities while prone.
- Players can no longer avoid certain AoE attacks when prone.
- Level 60 quests in Reekwater and Shattered Mountain now reward Gypsum Orbs.
- Reward experience increased by 50% for side missions at level 10-60.
- Fast-travel from towns and shrines now have a base cost of 20 Azoth.
- The cost of travel no longer changes due to distance and weight.
- Recall time reduced to 30 minutes from 1 hour.
- Fast-travel cooldown on houses reduced to 20 Azoth from 50 Azoth.
- Housing tax minimum band reduced to 0.1% from 5%.
- Housing tax maximum band reduced to 1% from 10%.
- Controlling companies earn 5x coin generated from regional house taxes.
- Experience curve for Fishing gathering skill reduced by 38%.
- Cooking experience curve increased by 30% to match other trade skills.
- Players will no longer be locked out of chat upon joining a session.
- Infused Silk will now display correct gearscore.
- Servers now teleports twice as many players into and out of war to reduce wait time.
- Fire Staves and Life Staves will now roll with correct attribute perk in mutated expeditions.
- Mutator Orbs can now be purchased every 3 days rather than 5 days.
- Yellow Topaz no longer has a minimum drop time.
- Back Gypsum minimum drop time is reduced to 5 minutes from 10 minutes.
- Purple Gypsum minimum drop time is reduced to 30 seconds from 2 minutes.
- Gypsum Orb added to faction vendors and can be bought once per day for 7,000 faction tokens.
These are just some of the bug fixes, changes, and balance updates for New World, and there are a lot more for weapons.
