New world release date adjusted due to CoronaVirus

Amazon’s New World release has been delayed to August 25, 2020. In a blog post, the developer has announced the unfortunate news, saying that while developers have been working on the game from their respective homes, they saw the need to delay its release because of COVID-19.

“While we are still making great progress, developing an ambitious MMO like New World remotely has introduced some challenges. We want to make sure that we have the time needed to make New World the very best it can be for our players,” the developer explains.

Amazon added that they wanted to make sure that they aim to reach their “quality bar” as they work remotely “for the foreseeable future.” They are also putting their team’s health and safety as top priority, and wanted to protect them from the effects of the virus.

We hope you understand our decision to protect our team during these uncertain times while we re-focus on a timeline that will ensure New World is the best possible game it can be,” the blog post reads.

The game’s Alpha will remain open, while its Closed Beta has been moved to July 2020.

New World release updates will be posted through the game’s official social media platforms.
