Bandai Namco finally puts some of the rumors circulating in recent days to rest with a final confirmation. That is, the announcement of New Bleach: Rebirth of Souls, with a trailer released during the Anime Expo in Los Angeles on 6 July 2024. News that has amazed many and positively surprised fans of Tite Kubo’s series, which has seen renewed interest with the recent animated series Bleach – Thousand Year Blood War, rumored to have its third season coming soon.
Definitely an unusual place for Bandai to release the trailer, a trailer that was quite unexpected despite the rumors. This is surely because many would have expected to hear news about the third season of the new Bleach animated series. A series that returned after almost 10 years to retell the story of Ichigo Kurosaki and his companions. Based on the same name manga by Tite Kubo, which follows the young Ichigo Kurosaki as he deals with the supernatural and numerous battles, in one of the most iconic and beloved manga of Shonen Jump.
The trailer for Bleach: Rebirth of Souls shows us in all its glory the confirmation of Tamsoft Corporation as the developer behind the new Bleach game. Proposing a 3D fighting game that seems to trace Ichigo’s story from the beginning at least up to the Ryoka Invasion, although it could extend up to what was covered before the Thousand Year Blood War. A trailer that mainly shows the various main characters, the antagonists, and some special moves. All realized with a cel-shading style to give it that manga effect.
A news that has been well received by many, who finally see the return of a Bleach fighting game after over 10 years if gacha or mobile games are ignored. The game is curated by Tamsoft, a development team active since 1992, mainly behind beat ’em ups like Oneechanbara, Senran Kagura. But more recently with the sports game Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, and participation among the teams behind the 2D fighting game Melty Blood: Type Lumina, based on the Tsukihime Remake.
Bleach: Rebirth of Souls is scheduled for release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, thus seems to be missing on Nintendo Switch but it is not unlikely to be released later on Nintendo’s hybrid console. As for the release date, there is still no confirmation, so we will have to see if it will be released by the end of 2024 or postponed to 2025.
