MFS 24 is the latest in the iconic flight simulation series, arriving four years after the 2020 edition, which celebrated the series’ 40th anniversary. This edition renews the series with new careers and challenges and a dynamic weather system.

New Gameplay Features in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 brings a major new feature to the series by introducing Career Mode for the first time. With over 10 aviation-themed careers, players can learn the steps required for each career, piloting firefighting planes, cargo helicopters, or emergency response aircraft, enhancing the immersive experience.

The graphics engine update will also impact the experience, with a new weather system that makes gameplay more dynamic, influencing missions unpredictably with environmental conditions like wildfires or even tornadoes.

The Career Paths in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

One of the big features of MFS 24 is the addition of Career Mode, offering a unique simulation experience with various career paths. Ranging from action-packed missions like firefighting or rescue operations to relaxing ones like aerial tours or classic Airbus piloting.

The Career Mode also includes Challenge League and Activities like air racing and perfect landing challenges, including events such as the Red Bull Air Races and the Reno Air Races, testing piloting skills in adverse weather conditions.

How Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Uses Cloud Technology

Another innovative feature in MFS 24 is the use of cloud streaming, which significantly reduces game size. Bringing it down to 50GB, compared to the typical 200GB+ installation in the 2020 edition. However, it’s unclear whether a full download option will still be available.

Thanks to cloud technology, Asobo can now stream high-resolution visuals from satellite images, which reflect real-time weather conditions that also affect gameplay. As explained by the user VR Flight World in the video below.
