Marvel’s Avengers is set to release, and in an interview with IGN, the developers explain why they went down a certain storyline with the game.
Marvel’s Avengers creative director, Shaun Excayg, told IGN that the storyline came about because they wanted to know how the story would play out if the public turned against the Avengers.
Speaking to IGN, Shaun said, “What if we had the Avengers cross the line? The cost of their failings was just too high, people were hurt. You know, some were infected by the Terrigen blast and labeled Inhuman, they lost Capt their leader. You know, they were disbanded and outlawed and you start them in this position.”
Having the Avengers disband meant filling a gap, and that’s where Advanced Idea Mechanics come into the story. A fictional organization of villains and supervillains from the comics that are determined to rid the planet of those with superpowers.
The storyline of the Avengers reassembling isn’t new, and in fact, was seen on the move screen with Avengers: Endgame, and Bill Rossmann of Marvel Games’ said that this idea came about years ago, saying, “people had not seen a reassemble story. And that got our attention, and we started thinking about all the story possibilities of, what would it be like. That entire structure was built around the reassembling of the Avengers team.”
The game looks to build on the success of the films, and with the game getting ready to launch the hype is growing with the hope that it can live up to expectation.
Reassemble the Avengers when Marvel’s Avengers launches on September 4, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and later for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
