Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is the highly anticipated remaster of the two great classics from the Legacy of Kain series. Created by Crystal Dynamics featuring the vampires Kain and Raziel. With the Soul Reaver series focusing on Raziel.
Born in 1997 with Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, the series immediately found great success. With the first installment selling around 2 million copies at the time. Cementing itself as one of Crystal Dynamics’ most beloved IPs, alongside Tomb Raider. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Soul Reaver, the remaster will release on 10th December 2024.
Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver: The Remaster Surprises Embracer’s CEO
The remaster of both Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver games has been entrusted to Crystal Dynamics by Embracer, following the success of the Tomb Raider I–III Remastered. With a release date set for 10th December 2024, the game is already available for pre-order on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
During Embracer Group’s financial report on 14th November CEO Lars Wingefors discussed the remaster. With Wingefors announcing that pre-orders for Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered far exceeded Embracer’s initial expectations.

This news will certainly excite fans of the series, who will finally be able to replay their beloved classic in a remastered version. It’s also a chance for new players to discover a series that’s been absent for over two decades. However, how well the title performs at launch remains to be seen, with a teaser already hinting at the bosses we’ll encounter.
With success and good sales, it wouldn’t be surprising if Embracer decides to remaster Blood Omen and Defiance as well.
