A new update, spotted in the latest Deadlock update by Stannis Loyalist, suggests Valve may officially announce Half-Life 3 soon.
Within the Deadlock update, a specific line of text refers to “HLX,” which many believe is a codename for HL3. Additionally, “FSR 3” is AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 technology, which is often implemented towards the end of a game’s development to enhance optimization and performance.
What We Know About the Valve Update
The string of code spotted in the Deadlock update is: “r_hlx_fsr3_min_reactiveness.” Having found it, Stannis said, “I suspect the issue arose when FSR3 was integrated into HLX, and during its implementation in Deadlock, they accidentally included HLX-specific code.”
While it’s not concrete confirmation of HL3, recent DOTA 2 and Counter-Strike 2 updates have also referenced HLX. Whatever the game Valve is working on is, Stannis says they are “extremely confident HLX will be announce this year.”
