Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has said AI could not do a better job of making a GTA game, and instead AI will at most be an aid to developers.
Everyone is talking about ChatGPT at the moment, which has led to people wondering how AI will help developers and publishers create games in the future.
Speaking to investors, Zelnick said, “no, it’s not going to allow someone to say, ‘please develop the competitor to Grand Theft Auto that’s better than Grand Theft Auto,’ and then they just send it out and ship it digitally, and that will be that.”
Of course, AI is only improving, and it’s only natural that game developers look to use tools to design better games, write scripts, and reduce the costs of making games.
ChatGPT and AI are still relatively in their infancy, but it will be interesting to see how games develop as the technology evolves.
