Gothic 1 Remake is the project under development by Alkimia Interactive for THQ Nordic. A true remake of the great RPG classic Gothic from 2001 by Piranha Bytes.
With a playable teaser released in 2019, receiving over 180,000 downloads and strong fan interest. This led to the greenlight for the game’s development, with a release planned for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Gothic 1 Remake Demo – Official Nyras Prologue Announcement
The start of 2025 has certainly seen a lot of activity from the Alkimia Interactive team. The development team behind the highly anticipated Gothic 1 Remake. Especially with the late 2024 message they left, marking 2025 as a key year for the project.
Indeed, if on February 7 we saw the first Behind the Scene, the team also confirms a Playable Demo. This demo will be available from February 24 to March 3, 2025 during Steam Next Fest. Specifically, we will have the build of the Nyras Prologue. Already shown as a playable demo at Gamescom 2024 and Tokyo Game Show 2024.

Gothic 1 Remake: What we know about the game and development
This will be the first time fans can get their hands on the Gothic 1 Remake demo. We’ll have a 30-minute demo featuring the main game features, playing as Nyras. With production actually starting in 2021 and handled by the Alkimia Interactive team.
With much of the staff having direct experience with the original game, this remake is much closer to the 2001 version than the first teaser. The team consists of over 50 dedicated members, with the transition from UE4 to UE5 in 2023. The hoped-for launch year for the game is 2025, or at least within Q1 2026.
