God of War, Sony’s action-adventure RPG, launches on PC on January 14, and reviews are flooding in comparing the PS5 version with the PC.

IS GOD OF WAR PC BETTER THAN PLAYSTATION VERSION?
It’s been a long time coming, but God of War is finally available to buy on PC, and with it comes a host of graphical and performance improvements.

Originally released as a PS4 exclusive, the game is playable on the PS5 through backward compatibility, supporting 60 FPS.
On PC, thanks to NVIDIA’s deep learning super sampling (DLSS) technology, you can boost performance by allowing your RTX graphics card to render God of War at a lower resolution before upscaling it to a stable frame rate.

I wouldn’t expect native 4K resolution at 120 FPS, but you could see a stable frame rate in the 80-90 region.
Whether you’re playing at 4K resolution or lower, God of War PC features improved ambient occlusion and screen space reflections over the PS4 version.
Unfortunately, those improved reflections of light and colors do not impact Kratos, his weapons, or objects.

The PC port of God of War will look sharper, but overall you won’t be seeing too much of a difference to the PlayStation version.
Any visual improvements in the PC version will feel somewhat pointless, as just as its PlayStation counterpart, Sony, has chosen not to include an FOV slider.
The lack of field-of-view customization means that the third-person camera sticks to Kratos, making parts of the game quite claustrophobic.

That claustrophobic feeling is by design and will add to the intense action throughout the game.
It may be because of the very small FOV that Sony and NVIDIA have worked together to add NVIDIA Reflex to God of War.
NVIDIA Reflex is a new technology often found in fast-paced, competitive first-person shooters as it improves responsiveness and reduces latency.
With the camera close to Kratos, you will need that improved responsiveness to throw your axes and avoid incoming enemy attacks.
Of course, there are plenty of quality-of-life improvements in the PC version of God of War, but you’re still playing a PS4 game, and that will show.
