After rumors about an upcoming Fortnite movie surfaced online, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney publicly denied them, stating them as “false.” Sweeney responded to an insider who claimed that a Fortnite movie would be “next,” following the recent release of a Minecraft movie in cinemas worldwide.

Despite growing rumors and industry insider Daniel “DanielRPK” Richtman claiming a Fortnite movie is the “next” video game adaptation, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has responded in a tweet that the news is “false.”
In a now-deleted post on X, DanielRPK got the attention of gamers everywhere by suggesting a movie on Epic’s massively popular battle royale is in the works, which saw Sweeney shut down the rumors.
Rumors of a Fortnite Movie: Where Did They Start?
In his tweet, DanielRPK said: “You just know Fortnite is next,” and revealed studios had already “passed” on the idea, although he didn’t mention what studios had decided not to make a film on the hit video game.
He continued to claim that after the massive success of A Minecraft Movie, which has recently raked in $301 globally from its opening weekend, plans for a Fortnite movie will “obviously change now.”
Tim Sweeney’s Clear Response
While insiders suggest a Fortnite film is coming, one person who would know, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney, immediately shut down any hope by tweeting his own response: “False.”
It’s unclear exactly which part of DanielRPK’s tweet Sweeney was addressing. He may have been suggesting that studios had not turned down the project, indicating that circumstances had changed, or simply asserting that a Fortnite movie will not be made. Only time will reveal the truth.
False.

Could a Fortnite Movie Happen in the Future?
Absolutely. As we’ve seen with Borderlands, Super Mario Bros., and A Minecraft Movie, fans are looking for adaptations of their favorite games. Fortnite has a massive global fanbase and already has major collaborations with Hollywood to offer players in-game events and content.
While the current answer is apparently no, Fornite’s cinematic events and crossovers suggest that movie could still be a strong possibility in the future.
Conclusion
A Fortnite movie could be coming, but then again, it may not, as Tim Sweeney has shut down rumors of any adaptation happening soon. Would you like to see a movie based on Epic Games’ battle royale? Let us know in the comments.
