Forget Dark Souls! Cuphead is probably the gaming world’s new Dark Souls, as more and more players are going crazy because of how difficult this game is. The game plays like other run-and-gun games such as Metal Slug, or Contra, but with more difficulty.

You play as Cuphead, and with you is your friend Mugman (which will be playable by another player in co-op mode). You will be playing through branching sequence levels with continuous boss fights. You have infinite lives, and you get to keep your weapon between deaths. In terms of abilities, Cuphead is able to parry color-coded objects, and by doing so will fill up a meter which then activates his special move.
When it comes to its gameplay, don’t let the game’s cartoonish graphics fool you. The game’s bosses sure do have a lot of tricks under their sleeves, and they will definitely hurt you if you are not attentive to your surroundings. You may need to battle the same boss over and over again until you recognize his attack patterns.
Though it’s now known as a challenging game, Cuphead still raked in more than 400,000 copies in sales. Here’s a graph from Steamspy as of 8 October which shows how much this game has gained popularity after it was launched:
If you’re the type of player who loves challenging games, Cuphead is definitely the best game to get for yourself right now. It’s fun, visually appealing, and will surely keep you playing for hours!
