Great news arrives from PlayStation regarding one of the most requested features on PS5. Discord, the world’s most used voice chat app by gamers (and not just gamers), is coming to PS5. A feature that will certainly make many happy, finally allowing them to join their friends without too much hassle.
An announcement not only shared on PlayStation’s official blog but also on Discord’s official blog. A collaboration that will certainly not only delight players on Sony’s latest generation console but also Sony itself with one less feature to compete with Xbox (available since 2022).
The team explains in detail how to enable Discord on PS5 and join voice chats.
It seems, however, that at least for now, the Discord app on PS5 does not yet allow the possibility to share your screen with friends. Another feature many were hoping would arrive with the native app on PlayStation 5.
As confirmed on the blog by Sabrina Meditz, Senior Director of PlayStation, the native Discord app will be available with the new update on PlayStation 5, version 9.40. However, the feature will not be available in all regions right away; it will be implemented in the coming weeks, starting with the Japan and Asia region, and then moving on to Europe, Oceania, and the Middle East, concluding with the Americas.
Interested users are advised to update their console and link their PSN account to their Discord account to start without issues once Discord is available.
