WoW Season of Discovery Phase: Prepare for Launch on 21 November

Among the major announcements from the Warcraft Direct celebrating the 30th Anniversary, there’s big news about SoD. Adding to the official updates Blizzard shared on 2 November 2024, introducing new features for WoW Classic with WoW SoD Phase 6.

Phase 6 takes us to Ahn’Qiraj to face C’Thun and later to Nightmare Grove against the Dragons of Nightmare, with new raids, fresh game mechanics, and most importantly, precious loot.

WoW: What to Expect from Season of Discovery Phase 6

Season of Discovery Phase 6 officially starts on 21 November 2024 with four main stages and a series of preliminary quests:

  • 12 November: Questline “Scepter of the Shifting Sands”.
  • 21 November: Global Launch at 22:00 CET / 1:00 pm PST and start of the War Effort event in Ahn’Qiraj.
  • 29 November: End of the War Effort event.
  • 4 December: Start of the war introducing Anubisath and Qiraji warriors.
  • 6 December: Raids open for Temple of Ahn’Qiraj, Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj, and Nightmare Grove.

Finish creating the Scepter of the Sands in time to ring the Gong between 4 December and 6 December at 22:00 CET / 1:00 pm PST. Get rewarded with the Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal to ride a Qiraji War Mount.

War Effort

This is the central event of the season. Horde and Alliance work together to deliver resources to the Valley of Spirits in Orgrimmar or the Military Ward in Ironforge. Rewards include Ahn’Qiraj War Effort Supplies, item quality scaling with material quality, and Commendation Signets for faction reputation.

Pushing Back the Enemy

This phase involves pushing back Anubisath and Qiraji forces in the Barrens, with additional locations depending on your level. Low-level players head to Thousand Needles, while higher levels battle in Silithus, Tanaris, and Feralas. Rewards include Gold, XP, Brood of Nozdormu reputation, and higher loot drop chances for rare items.

Season of Discovery Phase 6: The Ruins and Temple of Ahn’Qiraj Raids

After the war, players can finally tackle the Ruins and Temple of Ahn’Qiraj Raids. These introduce the new *Descent into Madness* system, offering increased difficulty and better final loot. Players choose to claim loot or face stronger bosses for superior rewards.

Raid: Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj

A 10+ player level 60 raid where mounts are required. Featuring six bosses: Kurinnaxx, General Rajaxx, Moam, Buru the Gorger, Ayamiss the Hunter, and Ossirian the Unscarred. This raid resets twice weekly.

Raid: Temple of Ahn’Qiraj

A challenging 20+ player level 60 raid with nine bosses, including The Prophet Skeram, Silithid Royalty, Fankriss the Unyielding, Viscidus, Princess Huhuran, The Twin Emperors, Ouro, and finally C’Thun. This raid has a weekly reset.

WoW Classic: The 2025 Roadmap and Future of SoD

During the Warcraft Direct 30th Anniversary, Blizzard shared updates on Season of Discovery’s future, extending into 2025 with Phase 7. This phase will feature Naxxramas Raids and additional end-game content.

The team confirmed that Season of Discovery will not end with Phase 7, teasing more updates. Meanwhile, the WoW Classic 2025 roadmap revealed the arrival of Mists of Pandaria in Spring 2025, delighting many fans.
