Prime Gaming Rewards for Overwatch 2 Discontinued

Prime Gaming is an added perk for Amazon Prime members which gives out free monthly games and in-game rewards for some of the biggest titles in the gaming industry. While it has been a good run, and still is, since its inception, there were major changes this year which is not very popular with subscribers.

Earlier this year, Prime officially ended its partnership with Riot Games. The last capsules for League of Legends and Valorant were dropped in March. But not only did the in-game rewards end, but also their sponsorship for Riot’s esports tournaments stopped.

And now Overwatch 2 has shared the same fate.

Prime members who regularly check for Overwatch freebies noticed that no new drops were made since June and even the game’s panel on the Prime Gaming website disappeared. This created confusion as there was no announcement from neither Amazon nor Overwatch.

It wasn’t until earlier today that the news of the non-renewal of the contract was made public. It is rumored that Prime Gaming is slowly shifting their focus in providing free games only and to completely remove all in-game rewards available on the site.



If you are a long-standing Prime member who was able to redeem previous Overwatch 2 rewards and skins like the Constable Tracer released in November 2022, know that those are still yours to keep. Once redeemed from Prime Gaming, it is yours forever.

This may be sad news to many, the Prime Gaming July 2024 free games lineup gives some comfort as titles like Hitman Absolution is included.
