The Planet Crafter – The Moon Update Takes the Terraforming Sandbox to the Next Level

In the world of survival games, The Planet Crafter stands out with its peaceful environment. But even though there are hardly any enemies, life is far from easy. In this game by French indie studio Miju Games, you’re sent to a hostile planet as a convict and must make it habitable. The new Moon Update for The Planet Crafter has now been announced, and you can find all the details here.

The Planet Crafter

What is The Planet Crafter?

As mentioned, The Planet Crafter is an open world sandbox survival game where you’re sent as a convict to a planet that’s initially uninhabitable. Your goal is to transform this planet into a livable world through terraforming. This brings oxygen, water, and of course, plants to the planet.

You can freely explore the world and encounter various biomes. Expect stunning caves with glowing crystals and much more. The game combines many different mechanics. You’ll need to gather resources like iron, cobalt, silicon, and even uranium to craft equipment and build structures. The most important structure is your base, where you set up shelters and production facilities—without it, your chances of survival are very low.

And of course, the key feature is terraforming. You’ll need to build various machines to increase temperature, pressure, and oxygen levels. As a result, the environment gradually changes and the planet becomes more beautiful. Your progress is tracked by the terraforming index, which shows the different development stages of the planet. And the best part is, you don’t have to do it alone—you can play the game with up to 10 players.

What’s in the new Moon Update

After the Planet Humble DLC was so well received, the developers decided to keep expanding the game for a long time. That’s why the next step is the free Moon Update as a thank-you to the community. With this update, as the name suggests, you’ll be able to travel to one of two moons. You can do this once you’ve terraformed the first planet.

Once you’re on one of the moons, you won’t have to start from scratch. You’ll keep all your blueprints, your knowledge, and your equipment. You can even transfer resources between your planets, and later on, automate that process. There’s no exact release date for the Moon Update yet, but from the trailer we know it’s coming soon.
