With the open ending of The Last of Us Part 2, many fans of the series want to see a third chapter. From Daniel Richtman’s Patreon, a Twitter influencer and writer, some news has emerged.
In particular, he claims that the casting for the third chapter has already started. He even talks about a story that seems to involve new characters. Among them, Val and Mason are set to compete for a Victorian House. Along with Gracie, Ezra, and Lucas, with the latter having a dark twist.

The Last of Us 3: Development and Challenges for Naughty Dog
As shared by Richtman, we don’t know if the names mentioned are part of an entirely new story or a mission/part involving Ellie. The Naughty Dog team has certainly remained quite silent regarding a third chapter. With Part 2 notably ending on an open note for a potential new story. A sequel deeply criticized for some of its story choices.
A story that certainly divided the core fans of the series. So Naughty Dog may indeed propose a new cast, ultimately concluding Ellie’s story. In the meantime, the team is primarily focused on developing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. An action game with a space theme. As well as the imminent launch of Part 2 Remastered on PC.

If what has leaked is true, it seems that The Last of Us 3 is at a good stage of development. With part of the story supposedly already prepared and with the actual development phase underway. A project that, however, will not see the light soon, given the focus on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
