Star Wars Outlaws Shakes Things Up with New Creative Director
Star Wars Outlaws has a new creative director, with Ubisoft seeking a fresh perspective and ambitious plans for the game. Drew Rechner steps into the role ahead of the game’s Title Update 1.4 on November 21.
Star Wars Outlaws only came out in August, and Ubisoft has already made a significant change to the game’s leadership. In a bid to reshape elements of the action-adventure while staying true to the Star Wars IP, the new creative director is Drew Rechner, an experienced game designer with Massive Entertainment for a decade.
Ubisoft hopes to address fan concerns following a shaky start plagued with bland gameplay, glitches, and poor optimization. Rechner’s first task is to oversee Star Wars Outlaws’ Title Update 1.4, which comes to PS5, Xbox, and PC on November 21.

Big Changes Coming to Star Wars Outlaws
In Star Wars Outlaws’ first dev update, Rechner points out player feedback since the game’s launch in August and promises changes. After introducing himself in the blog, Rechner says they “deeply care about your experience with the game, and use all the data and feedback possible” to see where they can improve Star Wars Outlaws.
Changes to the player experience are coming via three Title Updates. Rechner says they are focusing on bugs, gameplay, and quality-of-life improvements. Players can expect massive improvements to combat, stealth, and character controls. These key areas will get added depth, embrace player-driven actions, and improve the reliability, responsiveness, and consistency of the game’s controls.
What This Means for Fans
Star Wars Outlaws has seen a mixed reception since releasing in August. Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment have heard players, and Title Update 1.4 promises fixes and tweaks surrounding player concerns. Fans can expect to hear more soon about what’s inside the update.
The update will go live on November 21, alongside the game’s Steam launch and Wild Card story pack. Star Wars Outlaws is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and there’s never been a better time to explore the Outer Rim.
