Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Hits 10 Million Sales

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard has hit 10 million sales ahead of Halloween 2021.

With Halloween fast approaching, Capcom has put us in the mood for a Shocktober by announcing that Resident Evil 7 has surpassed 10 million sales.

It makes the game the first in the franchise to reach the landmark, not counting for remakes and remasters.

The 10 million copies sold include physical and digital sales, although Capcom has not released individual platform sales.

Capcom has revealed that their decision to bundle Resident Evil 7 with Resident Evil Village helped push sales further, along with strategic pricing and event-driven discounts.

RESIDENT EVIL 7 CHANGES THE HORROR FORMULA

Resident Evil 7 continues to be successful, partly due to the decision by Capcom to change the POV and make it more action-oriented than previous games in the series.

The game changed up the Resident Evil formula by being the first to feature a first-person perspective, which made the game feel more immersive and claustrophobic than previous titles.

The positive feedback from fans was such that Resident Evil Village, the sequel to Resident 7 that was released earlier this year, also features a first-person perspective.

Although Resident Evil 7 maintains the survival-horror elements the franchise is known for, the record sales would suggest that fans enjoy its action-heavy gameplay.
