Wartorn is the strategic roguelike game developed by Stray Kite Studios, a Dallas-based development studio with industry veterans behind major titles like Bioshock, Borderlands, Age of Empires, and more. Wartorn marks the team’s first major ambitious project.
Offering a roguelike adventure where we guide two sisters to safety to the ancestral fortress of Beynun. All while recruiting creatures from the fantasy world to navigate the war-torn Talaur islands. Wartorn: Release Date Announced for Strategic Roguelike
Following the reveal on January 15, 2025, the Stray Kite Studios team is finally announcing the release date. This strategic roguelike game will launch in Early Access on June 17, 2025 on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Offering a game that takes us into a fantasy world, guiding the elven sisters Yara and Elani through a roguelike adventure. Guiding them through the Talaur islands towards the safety of the Beynun fortress. You can deploy fantastic creatures to help track down your family.

Wartorn: Key Features and Demo Available
Wartorn is a roguelike adventure with a strong real-time strategic component. It certainly recalls the RTS genre, offering an interesting system with:
- Systemic Elemental System: Offering a dynamic elemental power system of Fire, Water, Electricity, Tar, and Plants. These elements interact dynamically, allowing for powerful combos and debuff or healing effects.
- Team Combat: With the Caravan, we can recruit new units during our journey. Offering various abilities and characteristics to wisely deploy. With positioning, combos, skills, and morale to consider.
- Roguelike Strategy: With a unique mix of strategy and roguelike, there’s a deep level of replayability. Adding unpredictability and uniqueness to every run.
With the game debuting in Early Access. But you can try the game early with the Combat Demo available on Steam.
