New World: Aeternum – A New Adventure Rising from the Ashes of New World

After the June announcement of New World: Aeternum, the new Action RPG experience based on New World, the Amazon Games team is back to bring us fresh news. With New World: Aeternum now approaching its launch date on October 15, 2024.

New World: Aeternum – What the New Game Version Offers

In an announcement on 23rd September 2024, Amazon Games revealed what Aeternum brings to New World. As the team explains, since its launch in 2021, New World has undergone profound changes. And with Aeternum, the team promises the Definitive Version of New World. With new additions to assist new players, and some special perks for veterans, including:

  • The Cursed Mists PVP Zone: A PVP area in Cutlass Keys, where players must be wary of this Free-for-All zone. They can earn valuable Cursed Doubloons that grant access to the best end-game gear. However, players risk losing their loot if they die in the Cursed Mists, and other players can pick up their dropped items.
  • The Hive of the Gorgons 10-Player Raid: A massive 10-player raid with the threat of Gorgons, featuring a dungeon filled with puzzles and dangers around every corner. Facing some of the biggest and toughest bosses in the game, players will be rewarded with gear, including weapons and armor sets, at the highest level for every playstyle.


New World: Aeternum – Standard and Legacy Servers Explained

With New World: Aeternum, the team has decided to bring a significant change to New World’s game servers. The current game servers will be renamed as Legacy servers, while the new Aeternum servers will be called Standard servers. Two different experiences, requiring all players to create a new character on the Standard server. Specifically:

  • Legacy Server characters cannot be transferred to Standard Servers.
  • Standard Server characters can be transferred to Standard Servers, but only permanently.
  • Character transfers or creations will only be possible if the selected server is not full or blocked.

New World: Aeternum will also debut on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. As for the Legacy Servers, Amazon Games currently has no plans to merge the Legacy and Standard servers. In short, New World: Aeternum, arriving on 15th October, aims for a relaunch of New World and a fresh start for many players.
