NetEase has gone back on controversial plans to reset ranks in Marvel Rivals mid-season after fan backlash. Less than 24 hours after the developer announced their decision, it has made a dramatic U-turn, revealing players will not drop in rank when the first half of Season 1 ends on February 21.
Marvel Rivals has been a massive success since its launch in December 2024, and players were confused as to why they needed to suffer a rank reset mid-season and then again at the end of it. But now, that is not the case, with players set to earn their mid-season rewards.
Marvel Rivals Faces Backlash Over Controversial Features
NetEase’s initial announcement faced significant backlash from players, and the subsequent uproar forced the developer to change its plan.
When the first half of Season 1 ends on February 21, instead of dropping by four ranks, players will now only need to complete 10 matches and complete “relevant conditions” to earn end-of-season rewards, including Crests of Honor and Gold rank cosmetics.
