Nvidia G-Assist System Assistant: What is it and how does it improve the experience?
Among the new announcements at GTC, Nvidia’s AI conference held on March 25, 2025, there’s also something new for gamers. Indeed, during the keynote, the Nvidia team revealed new information about the Nvidia G-Assist. A true virtual assistant capable not only of answering and sharing information about our system.
But also analyzing and setting optimal options for a better gaming experience. It can even activate certain functions like video capture, benchmarking, and more, all through voice commands. Available right now as an experimental feature in the Nvidia app.
Nvidia G-Assist System Assistant: The Issue with System Requirements
A virtual assistant that could certainly be useful for less tech-savvy users, but at least for now, it hasn’t excited the community. Especially given that G-Assist requires a certain amount of VRAM, which systematically excludes a large portion of the Nvidia community, namely:
- GeForce RTX 30, 40, and 50 Series Desktop GPUs with 12GB VRAM or Higher
We’re talking about at least an RTX 3080 for the 3000 series, RTX 4060Ti 16GB, or realistically an RTX 4070 for the 4000 series, given the issue with the low VRAM of Nvidia cards below the top-tier models. Not to mention that the stock of the 4000 series is completely out, and the 5000 series has supply issues.

In Conclusion
A feature that could genuinely have its uses, especially as an integration for certain content creator systems. But with a hardware requirement based solely on VRAM for basic functions, excluding a large portion of the community.
Not to mention the upcoming announcement of the RTX 5060 and a Ti variant, seemingly with only 8GB of VRAM. In a situation where even those wanting an upgrade are excluded from certain features, in addition to stock shortages and rising prices.
