Hyper Light Breaker is the new action-adventure game from the Heart Machine team, renowned for the beloved Hyper Light Drifter. With Breaker, they bring a 3D adventure in an open world, exploring the world both solo and in co-op.
The game was released in Early Access on Steam on January 14, 2025, but received rather mixed feedback. Fans were disappointed not only by the lack of content but also by the problematic performance and gameplay issues.
Hyper Light Breaker: New Early Access Roadmap Revealed
About a month after the Early Access launch, the Heart Machine team is finally offering something concrete. On February 13, 2025, they announced the roadmap in the Monthly Update, revealing the roadmap for Hyper Light Breaker. The roadmap contains a series of fixes and additions covering until April.
Further additions and content are expected for the eventual launch of the 1.0 version of the game. The update on February 18, version v0.5.2.110690, includes numerous game fixes, performance improvements, enemies, and the new playable character, Ravona.

Hyper Light Breaker: Developer Talks Launch and Promises Fixes
On February 13, we got an interview with the team by GamesRadar. In it, lead producer Michael Clark explained how the launch has been particularly tough. The game was unbalanced and had performance issues. PR manager Yiyi Zhang also confirmed how the first impressions and criticism were crucial to shaping the development roadmap.
The team remains optimistic and hopes that the roadmap will bring most of the game and performance improvements in the coming months. April will bring a big chunk of content with new Crown bosses, new areas to explore, and new mechanics. They aim to balance difficulty with a certain level of challenge, without making it too easy.
