Playstation’s State of Play yesterday was absolutely packed with surprises. Not only was Playstation Plus Essential games for next month revealed one day ahead of schedule, there were also games announced to be entering Extra and Premium tiers.

But one of the most noteworthy announcements during the event is the confirmation of a rumor that has been floating around since May, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Release Date and Consoles

After months of speculations, Sony has confirmed that the Horizon Zero Dawn remake is real. The remastered version will be released on October 31, 2024. After 7 years since the original game launched, we can expect to see technological improvements, visual enhancements, and upgraded features.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered features more than 10 hours of re-recorded audio, mocap, some improved character models, animation, and lighting. According to Jan-Bart van Beek, one of the studio’s directors, this will make Horizon Zero Dawn “to the same visual fidelity” as Horizon Forbidden West.

The remastered version will be launched for PC and Playstation 5, as well as support for Playstation 5 Pro which will be released on November 7.



Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will come with The Frozen Wilds expansion and all its additional lands, machines, and skills. So basically the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition which was taken out from Playstation Plus in May that started the whole remastered rumor.

The game will not launch on PS Plus upon release, and so as of writing, no Horizon games are in service since Horizon Forbidden West departed from the PS Plus catalog on September 17.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Upgrade Details

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will debut at $49.99 but for those who own the original game, you can upgrade for only $9.99 regardless if you buy from Playstation store or Steam or Epic Games Store. Just make sure you are logged in when you do so.

This upgrade is also available for those who have the game in their libraries during PlayStation’s Play At Home program during the pandemic lockdown. If you were able to get the game however via Playstation Plus, unfortunately, the upgrade is not available to you.

And for those who own the Horizon Zero Dawn PS4 game disc, you will need to insert it to your PS5 console to access the upgrade offer and keep it inside the console the entire time you’re playing. This means, if you have the disc but have the PS5 digital edition disc-free console, the upgrade will not be accessible to you.
