God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla is a Free DLC that adds a whole new rogue-lite mode to the game. Valhalla is a free download to anyone that owns the game, and you don’t need to complete the main story to try it out. However, Santa Monica Studios recommends completing the campaign first as it will share story and gameplay elements with Valhalla.
Valhalla itself is a labyrinth of procedurally generated biomes designed to test Kratos and everything he has learned up to this point. Each attempt of Valhalla will play out differently, which means you can have fun exploring and experimenting with builds.
New Runes and Glyphs can add a lot of extra damage to attacks and can even increase the gain in skill gauges like Maelstrom and Immolation.
Santa Monica Studios teased a few of the runes and glyphs in the Valhalla DLC trailer, including the Attack Mountain Splitter I runic attack – which has 3 Damage, 2 Force, 1 Stun, and a cooldown of 150 seconds.
Others will increase luck, lower cooldowns, buff strength, and change various other stats and abilities.
To get the most out of God of War Ragnarok with the Valhalla DLC, you will want to embrace the new progression system. The new skills and abilities available will allow you to overcome the new challenges and defeat enemies and bosses.
As mentioned, you can jump into the new content and check out the new features with the Valhalla DLC at any time. But to experience the ultimate God of War experience with the Valhalla DLC you may want to complete the main story first. At least that way you will avoid any spoilers.
