The latest insider-exclusive rollout is here and it’s a big one. Game Hubs is officially being tested by select Xbox Insiders, giving a lucky group a first look at this new way to interact with their favorite games.
Game Hubs First Look and Who Gets to Try It?
Game Hubs is the newest feature introduced through the Xbox Update Preview program, now rolling out to select Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring. The feature officially began rolling out at 2:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. UTC on March 24, 2025.
If you’re part of the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring and have the “Keep my console up to date” setting enabled, the update should install automatically. If not, you can manually check for it in your system update settings.
So, what exactly is Game Hubs? In a nutshell, it’s a smarter, more connected way to engage with your favorite games. When you select a title from your recently played list, you’ll now be greeted with a detailed hub that includes player stats, achievement progress, friends who are currently playing, recent captures, available add-ons, game events, and more.
For those who just want to jump back into the action, Xbox has made sure not to slow you down. The default focus is on the Play button, allowing for a smooth and speedy double-tap-to-play experience directly from the game tile.
If you prefer to forgo this feature though, you can do that too. Xbox has included a toggle in the Personalization settings that allows you to disable this preview if you’d rather stick with the classic interface.
According to the official release notes, the experience may vary slightly from user to user. Xbox is deploying variations of the Game Hubs feature across the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring to collect different types of feedback as the goal is to refine the experience before rolling it out to the broader player base.

How to Join the Alpha Skip-Ahead Ring?
Well, here’s the catch. The Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead rings are invite-only tiers of the Xbox Insider Program. You can’t directly sign up for these rings, but you can increase your chances of being invited.
Microsoft hasn’t released the exact criteria for selection but hasstated that they consider different factors like providing high-quality feedback in the program, actively participating in quests and surveys, and frequently playing and engaging with games on your console.
So while there’s no guaranteed way in, showing consistent involvement and quality participation within the Xbox Insider Program could eventually earn you a spot in one of the top preview rings. And how it looks now, it is worth it.
